September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month! Get involved in safety at UCA!

eptember is National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) and UCAPD is partnering with the UCA Community to provide a full schedule of events and programming to raise awareness and promote safety with the start of the new academic year.
KICK OFF- FIRST FOOTBALL GAME- SEPTEMBER 1
EVERY TUESDAY X-PERIOD (SEPTEMBER 6,13,20,27- 1:40 p.m. -2:30 p.m.)- ACTIVE SHOOTER SURVIVAL VIDEO- UCAPD (COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AUDITORIUM 107) Shots Fired on Campus: When Lightning Strikes! UCAPD is presenting this 20 minute video that teaches students realistic strategies for dealing with an active shooter situation on campus.

EVERY WEDNESDAY STUDENT CENTER (SEPTEMBER 7,14,21,28-11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m.)-UCAPD AND STUDENT WELLNESS AND DEVELOPMENT- CAMPUS SAFETY TIP SHEETS (NEW TOPICS EACH WEEK) AND DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARNESS
EVERY THURSDAY X-PERIOD (SEPTEMBER 8,15,22,29-1:40 p.m.-2:30 p.m.) SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS VIDEO-UCAPD AND COUNSELING CENTER (STUDENT HEALTH CENTER 307) Speak Out and Stand UP - Raising Awareness about Sexual Assault: UCAPD is partnering with the Counseling Center to present this 20 minute video that addresses acquaintance rape and is specifically designed for college students.
OPERATION GOTCHA!! SOMETIME THIS MONTH SO WATCH YOUR STUFF!! UCAPD, HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE AND TORREYSON LIBRARY UCAPD will partner with Housing & Resident Life and Torreyson staff for Operation Gotcha! Officers and authorized staff will check residence halls and the library for unattended valuables and unlocked doors. Students will receive a “Gotcha” tag if items are found unattended.
OPERATION ID DAY- SEPTEMBER 27 (2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.)- UCAPD AND HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE (ALL RESIDENCE HALLS AND APARTMENTS) . Officers and Housing & Resident Life staff will set up stations for students to register valuables. Operation ID is a nationwide program designed to discourage burglary or theft. Students can register their valuables, which will increase law enforcement’s chances of recovery and easy identification of stolen property.
BRAKE FOR BEARS! - SEPTEMBER 28 (8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.)- UCAPD AND THE UCA COMMUNITY
UCAPD and the Student Government Association are once again teaming up to promote pedestrian safety through the 'Brake for Bears'campaign to be held September 28. Volunteers and UCA Police officers will encourage safety awareness throughout the day at various crosswalks around campus by distributing pedestrian safety information and, while supplies last, official Brake for Bears t-shirts.
